We believe community-led change starts with local organizations that understand the lived experiences of the people they serve. Yet many of these nonprofits—especially those led by Black or Brown individuals, or founded in direct response to urgent community needs—lack access to strategic guidance, grant funding infrastructure, board governance training, and capital development expertise.
On Hill Charities exists to fix that. We provide expert services at no cost to remove the burden, build knowledge, and empower transformation.
We primarily serve early-stage or emerging nonprofit organizations that have been in operation for fewer than three years or generate less than $250,000 in annual revenue. Our support is directed toward entities that serve at least 100 low-income residents each year and are rooted in Dauphin County or neighboring underserved communities. We prioritize initiatives led by individuals from historically marginalized backgrounds and focus on issue areas such as affordable housing, reentry services, youth empowerment, food justice, health equity, economic mobility, and trauma-informed care.
On Hill Charities offers a comprehensive suite of free or sliding-scale services designed to build the capacity of grassroots organizations. These services include grant writing and research, strategic planning facilitation, board development and governance training, and affordable housing technical assistance. We also provide executive and founder coaching, team building and leadership retreats, and workshops on compliance, budgeting, and fundraising. Additionally, we host community engagement and listening sessions to ensure our work remains aligned with local needs. We don’t just deliver solutions—we empower organizations to replicate them and scale their impact independently.
On Hill Charities is the nonprofit extension of On Hill Development LLC, aimed at removing financial and structural barriers for grassroots nonprofits. While On Hill Development serves established organizations through consulting, On Hill Charities provides no-cost or sliding-scale support in areas like grant writing, board development, and organizational strategy. This ensures that early-stage, community-based nonprofits—often led by residents with deep local ties—can access professional services and become stable, sustainable, and capable of driving transformational change in underserved neighborhoods.
